CHRISTIAN DISASTER VOLUNTEER RESPONSE TEAMS have met with non- governmental organizations, which included Churches, Missions, Community Groups and Samaritan Purse warehouse staff.  Three organizations have asked CHRISTIAN DISASTER RESPONSE to provide Disaster Management Training. The training provides local volunteers with the tools they need during the emergency, relief and recovery stages of the Disaster Cycle. 50 college age Volunteers were trained in Tokyo and 30 were trained in Sendai. Teams are deployed providing not only food service, but muck outs as well.  Japan is still in the Emergency Stage of this disaster response due to the fact that two of the three major disasters are very wide spread.

CDR’s Damage Assessment took place in Sendai, Ishinomaki and Kesennuma on the north east coast of Japan. There are miles of total destruction, with many of the former residents trying to find some reminders of their former life in the rubble left behind from the earthquake and Bay Wave. 

As of April 4^th there is still over crowded shelters without water and electricity. A Needs Assessment is underway in three affected areas to determine what relief supplies are needed now and during the recovery stage. 

One Team of eight volunteers is currently providing Emergency Food Service for disaster victims in Sendai, Japan.  Two other teams are doing muck outs and clean up in three communities along the northeast coast.

Funding for shipping, volunteer support and adult/ children care items is urgently needed at this time. Please pray for CDR volunteer teams and the thousands of displaced families living under horrible conditions.  A full list of needs will be posted on our web site on Friday.
